NBC’s Al Roker Readmitted to Hospital following Blood Clot Complications, His Wife Thanks ‘Unceasing Prayer Warriors’ for Support

Longtime NBC weatherman Al Roker was readmitted to the hospital following recent complications with blood clots.

Roker, who can be seen on NBC’s Today television program, recently told his social media followers that he had been admitted to the hospital after blood clots were found in both his legs and lungs.

“So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been. Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs,” he wrote on Nov. 18. “After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers, and hope to see you soon. Have a great weekend, everyone.”

On Thanksgiving Day, Roker’s wife, Deborah Roberts, shared that her husband was released from the hospital and able to celebrate the holiday with her at home.

“Thursday thankfulness and then some. Holding on tight and cherishing this moment like never before. Welcome home, my dear sweetheart, @alroker. Gratitude isn’t an adequate description, but we will start there. Brilliant medical minds. Loving family and friends. Unceasing Prayer warriors. #thanksgiving,” she wrote on Instagram.

Hours later, however, the television personality was readmitted to the hospital.

“Al was taken from his home in a stretcher back to the hospital on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. His condition was worrying, but once back in the hospital, he improved,” one witness told Page Six.

During Thursday’s “Today” broadcast, co-anchor Hoda Kotb confirmed the news of Roker’s hospitalization and told viewers that he is grateful for their support at this time.

“We all wish that Al could have been with us, but due to some complications, he is back in the hospital, and he’s in very good care,” Kotb said. “He’s resting, and his doctors are keeping a close eye on him.”

“Al and his family want everybody to know how grateful they are for all the love, the support, and the well wishes,” she added.

Roker, who has been on NBC’s Today since 1996 and occasionally hosts 3rd Hour Today, is also a devout Catholic.

Last week, Deborah thanked “prayer warriors” in a comment on Instagram and hoped her husband would return home.

“So grateful for the top-notch medical care and prayer warriors from every corner. We love you dearly, sweet Al and can’t wait to get you home,” she said.
