Three Gopis in Vraja

The three gopis in Vraja, Kalavati, Rasollasa, and Gunatunga, who sang the songs written by Vishakha, were Govinda, Madhava, and Vasudeva. The purity of their voices made all three brothers famous as vocalists.

Madhava Ghosh, a deserving individual, dedicated his life to kirtan. No other singer on the planet could compare to him. He was reportedly a singer from Vrindavan, according to the rumours. Nityananda Prabhu loved him dearly. While Lord Nityananda danced, the three brothers, Govinda, Madhava, and Vasudeva, started singing.

Shri Govinda Ghosh Participated in Mahaprabhu’s Lilas

Shri Govinda Ghosh participated in Mahaprabhu’s Lilas. He accompanied Lord Chaitanya on his preaching mission, spreading Bhakti Yoga. Shri Govinda Ghosh was an excellent singer and often sang devotional songs. He also played various musical instruments like the mridanga and kartals.

Three Brothers Had His Shripata

Shri Govinda Ghosh had three brothers, who were also devoted to Lord Chaitanya. All four brothers were initiated by Lord Chaitanya himself and were blessed with his divine grace. Shri Govinda Ghosh was a senior disciple of Lord Chaitanya, and he had a profound impact on the lives of his younger brothers. It is said that his brothers had his Shripata, which means they carried forward his legacy and continued spreading the message of Bhakti Yoga.

Shri Govinda Ghosh Accompanied Lord Chaitanya

Govinda Ghosh took part in the Mahaprabhu lilas held in Shrivasa Angan, in the Kazi’s home, and Raghava Pandit’s home. He was the fourth kirtan group’s principal singer during the Rathayatra festival, joined by his two brothers Junior Hari Das, Vishnu Das, and Raghava Pandit. As the lead dancer, Vakreshvara Pandit joined this ensemble.

He was born into a north Radhi clan Kayastha family. Agradwipa was where his Shripata was. Govinda, also called Ghosa Thakura, was the brother of renowned Vaishnava poet Vasudeva Ghosh. Govinda, a descendant of Lord Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, played a key role in installing the Deity Shri Gopinatha at Agradwipa.

The tree’s second, third, and eighth branches were the three brothers, Govinda, Madhava, and Vasudeva. In their kirtana concerts, Lord Chaitanya and Nityananda used to dance.

The kayastha family included the three brothers, Govinda, Madhava, and Vasudeva Ghosa. Agradwipa, where Govinda lived, is home to the Gopinatha Temple.

What Srila Prabhupada Said About Stocking Food?

Srila Prabhupada had a special relationship with Shri Govinda Ghosh. In one of his lectures, Srila Prabhupada narrated a story about Shri Govinda Ghosh, which is relevant today. He said they ran out of food when Shri Govinda Ghosh travelled with Lord Chaitanya. Lord Chaitanya asked Shri Govinda Ghosh if he had any food left, to which he replied that he had stocked some food. Lord Chaitanya then told him that stocking food was not the way of a Vaishnava. Srila Prabhupada emphasized the importance of sharing food with others, especially those in need, and not hoarding it.

What Happened When Thakura Was Taking a Dip in the Ganges

A floating thing struck Ghosha Thakura’s back a few days later as he was swimming in the Ganges. Despite being so hefty, it was made of wood. In his dream that night, he got heavenly instructions to carefully guard that piece of wood and present it to Lord Chaitanya when he arrived. Govinda discovered it was a Krishnashila when he went to get the wood late at night. The following morning, Lord Chaitanya greeted him at Govinda’s home, saying, “See here, Govinda! There is no longer anything to worry about. You should install the Deity chiselled from this shila by a sculptor who comes here tomorrow. Hence, Shri Gopinatha’s Deity was established.

Afterwards, Govinda married at the Lord’s whim and served the Godhead with his bride. Despite having a son, Govinda quickly lost both his wife and son. The loss of his family caused Govinda such intense grief that he ceased to serve Gopinatha. Govinda saw Lord Krishna in a dream, who questioned him, “Govinda! Do you believe it is ethical for a person to starve his other son to death after losing one son?

Govinda responded, “My wish was that if my son had lived, he would have carried out the proper rites in remembrance of my deceased soul and the souls of my ancestors.
